Laughing means you're happy, if just for a moment.  Even standing at the gallows, if a joke makes you laugh as the executioner pulls the lever, you'll die happy.  Levity lifts the soul... maybe literally.

There are occasions when you don't want to laugh.  Sometimes you miss the joke.  Sometimes, it's at your expense.  Laugh anyway.
