Unexplored

Dirt roads used to be irresistible.  Any previously untraveled dirt roads would be explored.  Unless over half of what was left in the gas tank when I started down it was burned up, and things still didn't look familiar, the end would be found.

Yesterday, while taking trash off, one of them showed up.  The old truck has traveled that path to the dump countless times, yet these eyes don't remember ever seeing that road.  It wasn't new, either.

Curiosity piqued, a foot raised off of the accelerator for a moment.  Then, inexplicably, eyes focused on the road ahead.  The old truck sped back up and continued forward.
