You deserve an explanation.  Imagine being told to smile for a picture, only to find out a video is being recorded.  Only this is no normal video, it's a horror movie.

Wait, it's not a horror movie.  It just seems that way.  It's real life.

Then, you wake up.  It was a dream.  

Shut the door.  Go back to sleep.  

Eyes pop open.  Why did the door need to be shut?  Why wasn't it?

Teeth grind.  Jaw cracks.  Ears pop.

The caldera rises.  From underneath, hot life forces itself on the world above. Ain't no door keeping that out.
