Weathering
The storm last night sounded like it discharged lightning every two seconds. It felt close enough that each peal of thunder shocked my senses like I was rocked by blows. I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep, but the tempest waited until I was almost asleep to, once again, pinch my aural nerve.
Its voice kept screaming in my ear. Pillows couldn't stop it. About the time it stopped, my alarm went off.
