Checkbox

Long ago, too long ago, it became apparent that making sure all of the proper boxes were checked wouldn't be fulfilling.  Life has a way of making the mind forget.  Before you know it, you're back plugging away at futility, checking boxes.

It becomes too frightening to stop checking.  There might be a few steps lost to the other box checkers.  Even though life is flying by, you've got to check another box.

It's all an illusion.  Boxes mean nothing.  There's no tote-board at the end, listing all of the checked boxes.

Maybe checking boxes is someone's thing.  It's not mine.  Making a path through this rat race of a maze just to check the next box is getting old.
