Random Time, Text and Auditory Observations #5150

It feels too late to be early and too early to be late.

How is it possible that the older SMS sytems never failed to send, yet current systems will fail without any warning?  It can be days before a new phone tells you that your sent message fails.  My old phone never lets me know that a message failed.  That's probably because it was built for the older SMS that never failed.

There's a sound I'll hear, from time to time, that puts my mind in the past.  It's a squeak, metallic in origin.  My Grandparents had a bench swing in their back yard.  I can remember them slowly moving back and forth on it... that tiny squeak originating from somewhere along the chain.  I don't know if it was from where it met the hooks, from the wood and metal friction, or from the friction of the links themselves.  They've both been gone for a very long time, but when I hear that sound, they're on that old wooden swing, again.
