Gratifying Evils

Necessary evils are still evil.  The lesser of two evils is still evil.  What's evil?

Mores construct lines like laser beams.  They appear impossibly straight, but mirrors can be used to alter them.  As legitimate as they appear, they're completely subjective.

What's your base?  There seem to be no core principles, anymore.  Vague ideas of good or bad are all that exist.

The United States of America was founded with a goal of pursuing a brand-new idea that no one should be in danger of losing their life, liberty or the fruits of their labor unless they've been proven guilty of violating the same of someone else.  With the realization that it did NOT currently achieve this goal, the pursuit of this was the goal.  That's a pretty good base.

Instead of working towards that goal, though, it seems the country has abandoned it... allowing ourselves to be manipulated into chasing ghosts and vague notions of 'good' or 'bad'.  Opinions flutter like toilet paper in a hurricane.  Most just support whatever will give them the most instant gratification.
