Adventure Times

Some pretty depressing things have happened over the last couple of years. Good things have happened, too, though... some very good things. Those good things are what I choose to make my focus. Because, you see, those good things always started as some sort of uncertain, potentially frightening event that I treated as a new adventure.

Everything is a potential adventure. That's how it's always been in my family. We found adventures.

My Mother always planned an annual trip or two to a place where we could have many adventures. One of the things we did was start hiking down some trail only to completely leave it and find our own way. This led to many interesting adventurous outings.

Not all adventures have a happy ending. Sometimes things don't work out as planned at all. Getting lost doesn't always lead to finding something new and interesting. With no chance of things going sideways, though, there would be no real adventure. The adventure is what you live for... not really the goal at the end; that's just the icing on the cake.
