Better Heroes

Why do we raise our kids to idolize the idiots mass media feeds to us as geniuses? I think that more kids need to know about the guys who did things that changed everything about how we live; who were way cooler than any stupid musician or athlete. Guys like Philo Farnsworth, who invented television at the age of 14 (and possibly created the first ever practical fusion reactor); Scientists like Nick Metropolis, the Manhattan Project scientist who was the creator of one of the world's first digital computers, MANIAC, who's programming language was called MADCAP; Inventors like Lee de Forest, the Alabamian who invented the vacuum tube and sound for movies; Thinkers like Shockley, Brattain and Bardeen, the 3 men who invented the transistor in a place called "Hell's Bells Laboratory", using AC/DC long before Angus and Malcom. There are so many more than the few I've listed above, but you rarely hear about these guys!

And we waste the month of March every year celebrating a sport invented when a guy overinflated a football and threw it in a peach basket! Gawd!
