No U-Turns
If I miss a turn driving somewhere, I'll find another way instead of retracing my steps. I don't like going backwards. There aren't many hard rules in my world, but going the opposite direction on the same path I just traveled is something I really try to avoid.
Seeing the same scenery pass so soon after seeing it, when I know I need to be someplace else, is unnerving. Part of it is acknowledging you've gone the wrong way, but that's not all of it. That's not even the main issue. There's some depressing element to the thing.
It feels like you're passing old Death as he follows you. He's yet to make the u-turn, so you pass him, face-to-face. If you know he's there, you might even recognize him.
