Media Mogul Now Heads Largest US Government Contractor
While looking at the website, USAspending.gov, I found a list of the top 100 contractors by contract amount. A company called Lawrence Livermore National Security LLC tops the list with $781,772,318.00. LLNS is apparently a lab of the University of California. I stumbled upon this news release from the University of California: Pattiz appointed chair of laboratory governing boards. "Pattiz," the press release states, "is the founder and chairman of Westwood One, America's largest radio network company, which owns, manages or distributes NBC Radio Network, CBS Radio Network, the Metro Networks and CNN Radio. It is the nation's largest producer of news, sports, talk and entertainment programming. In addition, Pattiz is a former member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), having been appointed by Presidents Clinton and Bush. The BBG oversees all U.S. non-military international broadcasting including Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, Worldnet Television, Radio and TV Marti and the Middle East Broadcasting Network. As chairman of the BBG's Middle East committee, Pattiz was responsible for conceiving and launching Radio Sawa and Alhurra Television. Pattiz is past president of the Broadcast Education Association.
He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Pacific Council on International Policy, is director of the Office of Foreign Relations of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, and serves on the Region 1, Homeland Security Advisory Council."
What are they doing with three quarters of a billion dollars in taxpayer money? Why is a CFR guy, with all this media control, in charge of a company that holds the largest contract with the US Government? All the talk about the CFR being some globalist organization may have made me slightly paranoid, but this seems a little odd. I guess I need to find out something more about LLNS and what they are contributing to the Department of Energy in return for such a large sum of money before I make any more comments.
