Neither ambition or the lack thereof are necessarily good or bad traits.  It all depends on the personality of the person exhibiting the characteristic.  Let it be said, though, that an immoral or misled ambitious person will harm far more than an unambitious one, and likely be afforded far more opportunity to do so than an ambitious moral person will ever have chances to help.
