Future-Us

The things that make you say, "If I work hard, someday I'll have that," may no longer seem worth the effort, twenty years down the road.  Nobody tells you that.  They just tell you, "If you work hard, you'll have that."  Those things can lose their allure as age catches up.

If it were possible to phone up future-you and ask, "Hey, me in 20 years, what do you wish you'd had?" maybe it would be worth it.  But you don't know future-you, at all.  That jerk is an idiot, anyway.  They'd have to be an idiotic jerk... they don't appreciate all the work you did to get them that cool stuff.
