Random Bottom Line #5150

Every rule remains up for debate in perpetuity.  Without this ability to correct, there would be no chance to improve anything.  Having standards means understanding they aren't carved in stone.

Conversely, standards shouldn't be challenged without serious investigation and study.  A knee-jerk reaction might be to completely re-evaluate all standards.  Throwing out everything in response to a single error creates a potential for more damage than ignoring the error.

Bottom line: don't be afraid to challenge long-held mores, but make sure you have a good reason to do so.
