Zeta Thoughts

Life is wasted on so much unnecessary stuff.  These past few days made that clear. The only thing really needed is food, water, and shelter.  All of the other conveniences aren't required to enjoy life.

As a matter of fact, they may be detrimental.  Instead of enjoying life, we spend the majority of our lives working to be able to have the things that make life easier, leaving very little time to enjoy them.

I had the sky.  I had music.  I had company.  I had books for when I didn't have company.

Don't get me wrong... hot, running water is something you really appreciate when you haven't had it for a few days.  A few more days and I'd have had to rig up something.  That hot shower when the power came back on was unbelievable.

So, food, water, shelter and hot running water.  And company.  And music.

Okay, I'm starting to sound like The Jerk.  The rambling point here is that taking a few days to appreciate the basic pleasures of life is a good thing...  Even if it's against your will and comes in the form of a potentially deadly storm.
