Why You Want

Why do some people only want something when others show an interest? When the others leave or let their eyes fall on something else, the interest seems to evaporate. Do these folks just want something to talk about to their friends? Are their attention spans just that short?

Seems like if something grabs your attention, popular opinion shouldn't matter. Conversely, popular opinion might be a good way to determine if something is a waste of time; Popular opinion tends to lean towards the lowest common denominator, anyway. Either way, if your interest is piqued, opinions shouldn't matter until you find out the facts.
