Stupidity

Why are people so stupid?  I really think there is a genetic mutation causing people to be unable to take a long-view of the world.  Everyone lives in the here and now.  Even those who are smart enough to look at the future only see what they want to see or follow a path that will bring them to what they believe is the best future for them, but which has been, instead, laid out by others incapable of seeing the repercussions of stupid behavior.

I may not be smart, but at least I know that cutting off your nose to spite your face is a dumb move.
