Lost Comments

A while back, a particularly idiotic piece ran on HuffingtonPost.com that seemed to require a comment. To comment required joining the site. Thinking there would be a notification in my email if someone replied to my comment, the story was soon forgotten.

Since joining the site, they've been sending daily spam-type emails. Today, I clicked on one and went to the the site. Logging in, I found out that my comment had been attacked, and I never even knew about it!

The first instinct was to reply, but comments had been closed for the story. The replies were long, and were really the typical attempts to brand anyone who disagrees with groupthink as 'racists'. I feel sorry for them. They seem to almost demand tyranny.

Yes, being able to reply would have made me feel better, but I don't think it would have swayed their opinion. When people are told to believe that the world is either right or left, good or evil - us or them, they tend to take a side and never look back.

It's sad, really.
