Moral Dilemma

I was listening to NPR the other day, when I heard one of the hosts talking to an african american lady about who she'd vote for in the upcoming presidential elections. The lady said she had a moral dilemma... she wanted to vote for a woman, but she also wanted to vote for a black person. I was aghast.

First of all, if you're voting for someone because of their race or gender, your moral compass is screwed up already. You're already morally corrupt, and don't need to make a decision in the election to place your morality in question. You should be voting for the best candidate... the person who would best represent/lead the country! Secondly, NPR was treating this as a LEGITIMATE problem for minorities in the election! "WHAT?", was the only thing I could say as I listened.

Am I the only person who sees this as a problem?
