It's Getting Colder and Darker Somewhere

Countless things move outside in the dark.  With each passing night, their time for hiding in the shade diminishes.  They have two more months of hastening their pace as they complete their nightly rounds before being afforded another second.

Of course, this is only for those nocturnal creatures in Earth's northern hemisphere.  Below the equator, night lengthens.  Less than a third of the Earth's land lies there, though, with a fifth of it being the inhospitable, nearly uninhabitable Antarctica.
