Oh, how badly we want that dissonant chord to resolve to the tonic. Just when you think the melody has no place to go but home, it fools you. It loves to resolve in a deceptive cadence to something that sounds right but you wouldn't expect.

How boring would music be if we always resolved everything to the tonic? There will eventually be a resolution, but let it take you where it wants to go. In the end, you'll be glad it doesn't just hit the first chord.
