Thinking about Thanksgiving makes me reflect on how lucky I've been to have had my family for so long. This will be the first Thanksgiving without my Mother. She kept family first in her mind. Thanksgiving will be so different without her. I had her for 45 Thanksgivings, so I still feel blessed for all those years.

She wanted me to have a family, too, before she left this world. One of the last things she said to me was about having children. It would've been nice to have been able to give that to her, but life, refusing to be dictated, moves at its own pace.

Tomorrow, I'll find myself with good people, eating good food. I'll see my Father. I'll see friends. I'll be very, very thankful.
