You're Boiling in it
Yesterday, I had a short political discussion after work. I was explaining why I think the Libertarian and Constitution parties are probably the closest to the traditional conservative ideology. While discussing our political system, I was asked if our government limited us to a 2 party system. I almost gasped. The person asking me this was an intelligent person. I said, "No."
"Well who does?"
"The media."
"Really?"
I pointed out that many of the founders abhorred the notion of political parties, and that the current system is a political monopoly, in that Republicans and Democrats are almost the same thing. You know the drill.
It just amazes me how so many people are unaware of the deceitfulness of media and our government. Those that see the lies, seem not to care, or have the 'what can I do about it?' attitude. Others just seem to be vigorously opposed to anyone casting dispersion on our government, at all, no matter if the allegations are true or false.
Freedom will die quietly, I'm afraid. The waters of socialism have been slowly heating up for a long time. I don't think anyone's going to feel the heat until it's too late.
