Longest 'Bama Straw goes to Paul; Not Bought

Ron Paul won the Alabama Straw Poll. Mitt Romney only got 14 votes. And he was in 2nd. It was a blowout for Paul.

What does that mean? I don't know that it means anything other than the fact that Ron Paul has a lot of supporters. It's way too early to be predicting anything, or listing anyone as a front-runner, although the larger commercial-driven media outlets are calling the candidates with the most money the 'front-runnters'. According to CNN, Romney has close to $50 million raised, compared to $3 million for Paul. All that tells me is that Romney has the support of the wealthy. That doesn't turn me on to him at all.

Who's in the money?

Mitt Romney $45+ Million
Rudy Giuliani $35 Million
John McCain $25 Million
Ron Paul, Tancredo, Brownback, Huckabee et al <$4 Million each
Fred Thompson ??? He hasn't 'declared' yet, so he doesn't have to disclose his $$$

Now, how much of that have they spent?

Romney $32+ Million
Giuliani $17+ Million
McCain $22 Million
Others $1+ Million
Paul $655K

I think that's awesome. Dr. Paul doesn't believe in spending other people's money. I like that.
