Sundown

All my life, there's been this tune that plays in my mind periodically. It sounds all grainy, as if were playing through an AM radio. I've heard the song on the radio before, but I never think to remember the lyrics, or song title. It's just an old song that seems very familiar.

So this morning, it's playing in my mind really loudly. I haven't had a radio on today, or TV or anything, but I can hear the tune plainly in my mind.

Turns out it's 'Sundown' by Gordon Lightfoot. I looked it up, and found out it was number one on the charts on June 29th 1974. I was born a month later.

I wonder if that song being all over the radio while I was in utero and after I was born made it stick in my mind?

I dunno, but there are several songs like that... Afternoon Delight by the Starlight Vocal Band, Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks, Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. A couple others that have that same effect are Sweet Home Alabama and of course, Freebird, although I've heard those songs so many times that they remind me of too many different things to say it's purely from my early childhood.
